The Alexander Hotel x dappas: Redefining the Guest Arrival Experience

How The Alexander Hotel Elevated the Guest Experience with Custom Welcome Packaging
In hospitality, first impressions happen fast.
For The Alexander Hotel in Miami, that moment started the second a guest opened their room door.
As part of a larger rebrand, the hotel wanted every arrival to feel thoughtful and memorable. Something beyond the standard hotel experience. Something that immediately made guests feel cared for.
The idea was simple: create a custom in room welcome experience featuring branded packaging, curated amenities, and printed details that reflected the hotel’s identity.
The challenge was figuring out how to actually make it happen.
Creating Something They Had Never Done Before
Before working with dappas, The Alexander had never launched custom welcome boxes before. Not because they lacked the vision, but because the process itself felt overwhelming.
The team knew the kind of experience they wanted to create for guests, but turning that idea into reality felt like a completely different challenge.
“I don’t even know where to start” was a feeling that came up early in the process.
Finding packaging vendors was one thing. Coordinating designers, printers, timelines, and inventory while simultaneously managing day to day hotel operations was another.
For a hospitality team already balancing guest services, bookings, staffing, and busy seasonal demand, it quickly became too much to manage.
On top of that, most suppliers required long lead times and heavy planning months in advance, making the process feel even less realistic for an operational hospitality environment.
The hotel wanted to elevate the guest experience, but they needed a way to do it without adding more complexity behind the scenes.

Why They Chose dappas
The Alexander partnered with dappas because they were looking for a simpler and more collaborative process.
Instead of managing separate vendors, designers, and printers, the hotel wanted one partner that could help guide the project from concept to final production.
The goal was not simply to create packaging. It was to create something that genuinely felt like an extension of The Alexander brand.
A big part of that came down to the details.
The team was especially focused on making sure their signature pink was matched perfectly so every touchpoint felt cohesive and recognizable.
“The color is perfect” became one of the standout reactions once the final boxes arrived.
Working closely together, the teams refined everything from typography to finishing details to ensure the final presentation felt polished, personal, and unmistakably The Alexander.
Equally important was flexibility.
Instead of planning months ahead or coordinating multiple suppliers, the hotel could order when needed and receive products quickly, which became especially valuable during busy seasons.
From Concept to Guest Experience
The final experience centered around a premium custom welcome box produced by dappas.
The exterior featured The Alexander logo, while the interior showcased the hotel’s signature pink along with the word “Welcome” printed inside the box.
The packaging became the perfect presentation piece for waters and chocolates placed inside each guest room, transforming simple amenities into something far more intentional.
To complete the experience, a premium double sided welcome postcard was added inside the box, tying everything together into one cohesive arrival moment while adding a more personal touch for guests.
Every detail was designed to feel thoughtful, considered, and uniquely theirs.
The impact was immediate.
What was once a standard hotel room arrival became something guests actively noticed and appreciated. Instead of walking into a room that simply felt prepared, guests were welcomed into an experience that felt thoughtful from the very first moment.
Since launching the welcome experience, The Alexander has continued reordering the packaging and postcards through dappas, something the team expressed has been far more convenient than managing multiple suppliers and production partners separately.
Having a streamlined system that allows them to reorder quickly when needed, especially during busy seasons, made the process feel operationally simple instead of overwhelming.
